What happens when a business no longer needs something? Does it become waste — or can we repurpose, reimagine and rethink what happens next? In this Deals Colony Zero Waste Case Study, we follow the journey of a Sharp PN-L702B 70-inch interactive conference touchscreen, kindly donated by John and Beach Wagner Pty Ltd and now being made available for shared community use. 🔄 HOW DID THIS OPPORTUNITY START? Computers 4 Learning (C4L) was first offered this large standalone Sharp interactive monitor, which can be used like a digital whiteboard. It is almost three office chairs wide and weighs approximately 70 kg. C4L didn't have the space for it. Instead of letting the opportunity end there, Janet asked: “Are you interested, or do you know someone who might be?” That simple question created a new possibility. Deals Colony stepped in to explore how the resource could be given another life — not just to prevent potential waste, but to reimagine what future opportunities this asset could create for the community. 🚚 THE JOURNEY John kindly offered to help with transport, but the screen needed protective blankets for safe movement. Monika from Deals Colony had no idea specialist moving blankets were needed! So she reached out to Arron from The Handyman Services, who not only had the right blankets but also offered a lift. Arron was already heading towards the area, so the pickup could be combined with his existing trip — avoiding an additional dedicated transport journey. Another resource shared. Another connection created. We are not claiming a specific CO₂ saving yet.
