Screen free skills day: a school project
The problem. Children spend little time on outdoor practical skills. Who it helps. A school: children aged 8 to 14 in a class or youth group, with a teacher in charge. What you start with. A local park, a few tools and a skills list. What is delivered. Children try bush walks, map reading and simple campcraft basics in a supervised day. It fits a school term, with the teacher in charge of timing and safety. How progress is known. Skills tried are ticked off a list. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Weather and supervision limits apply. Child safe practice applies: parent or guardian permission, adult supervision, privacy protection and an inclusive setting. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
