Screen free skills day: a community group project

The problem. Children spend little time on outdoor practical skills. Who it helps. A community group working together, helping children aged 8 to 14 and their parents. What you start with. A local park, a few tools and a skills list. What is delivered. Children try bush walks, map reading and simple campcraft basics in a supervised day. A small group works through it together, week by week. How progress is known. Skills tried are ticked off a list. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Weather and supervision limits apply. Child safe practice applies: parent or guardian permission, adult supervision, privacy protection and an inclusive setting. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
