Trade skills for young people: a workplace project
The problem. Young people see few trades up close. Who it helps. A workplace team backing the project. The people helped are retiring owners and professionals who want to pass on what they know. What you start with. A safe workshop and a mentor. What is delivered. Short sessions let young people try a trade skill with a mentor. A named team lead runs it alongside normal work, and taking part is voluntary. How progress is known. Sessions held and skills tried are recorded. A short summary is shared with your team, with names and personal details left out. Main purpose. The main purpose is a pathway to work, training or a first venture for the people taking part. Honest limits. Supervision and child safe practice apply. Child safe practice applies: parent or guardian permission, adult supervision, privacy protection and an inclusive setting. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
