Kids newsletter: a council program

The problem. Children read a lot but seldom write for a real reader. Who it helps. A council or library team hosting it, helping children aged 8 to 14 and their parents. What you start with. A shared document and a few short articles. What is delivered. Children write, edit and illustrate a monthly newsletter for their group. A community officer hosts it with local partners and follows progress. How progress is known. Issues produced and articles written are counted. A short summary is shared with the council, with names and personal details left out. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Editing needs adult help to keep content safe and kind. Child safe practice applies: parent or guardian permission, adult supervision, privacy protection and an inclusive setting. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
