Skills and language swap: a council program
The problem. Newcomers want to practise English and have skills to give back. Who it helps. A council or library team hosting it, helping migrants and newcomers restarting their careers in Australia. What you start with. Two people who each have a skill to share. What is delivered. Pairs swap an hour of language practice for an hour of a skill. A community officer hosts it with local partners and follows progress. How progress is known. Swaps completed are noted. A short summary is shared with the council, with names and personal details left out. Main purpose. The main purpose is a pathway to work, training or a first venture for the people taking part. Honest limits. Both people must be comfortable with the arrangement. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet. Start with a free Initial Assessment for Your Idea.
