Table lamps from a closure: a council program
The problem. Good lamps are thrown out because nobody has time to refresh them. Who it helps. A council or library team hosting it, helping small makers, stallholders and neighbours holding leftover stock. What you start with. Table lamps left behind by a closed business. What is delivered. Lamps are cleaned and repainted in a limited colour range, then offered as decor, with any electrical item checked by a licensed person. A community officer hosts it with local partners and follows progress. How progress is known. Lamps refreshed and the colours that sell best are recorded. A short summary is shared with the council, with names and personal details left out. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Electrical items are sold as decor unless a licensed person has tested them. Items are described accurately, in line with Australian consumer law, and custom made or refurbished items are disclosed. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
