Skills and language swap: a school project

The problem. Newcomers want to practise English and have skills to give back. Who it helps. A school: migrant students and their families, with a teacher in charge. What you start with. Two people who each have a skill to share. What is delivered. Pairs swap an hour of language practice for an hour of a skill. It fits a school term, with the teacher in charge of timing and safety. How progress is known. Swaps completed are noted. Main purpose. The main purpose is a pathway to work, training or a first venture for the people taking part. Honest limits. Both people must be comfortable with the arrangement. Child safe practice applies: parent or guardian permission, adult supervision, privacy protection and an inclusive setting. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
