Op shop surplus rescue: a community organisation project

The problem. Surplus goods pile up in storerooms. Who it helps. A charity or community organisation delivering it, helping op shops, small manufacturers and community groups with surplus to share. What you start with. Surplus items an op shop cannot sell. What is delivered. Items are sorted and passed to makers who redesign them. Your organisation leads delivery with support from the Deals Colony team. How progress is known. Items passed on are counted. A short summary is shared with your board or members, with names and personal details left out. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Items must be clean and safe. Items are described accurately, in line with Australian consumer law, and custom made or refurbished items are disclosed. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
