Mismatched mugs and bowls: a community organisation project
The problem. Mismatched crockery sits unused and often ends up in landfill. Who it helps. A charity or community organisation delivering it, helping small makers, stallholders and neighbours holding leftover stock. What you start with. A box of mismatched mugs and bowls. What is delivered. Pieces are sorted by condition, bundled into two simple sets and offered for sale in a small test batch. Your organisation leads delivery with support from the Deals Colony team. How progress is known. Pieces sorted, bundled and sold are counted and written down. A short summary is shared with your board or members, with names and personal details left out. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Chipped pieces are labelled honestly or removed. Items are described accurately, in line with Australian consumer law, and custom made or refurbished items are disclosed. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
