Mini file server from reused PC parts: a school project

The problem. Old computers are binned while small groups lack storage. Who it helps. A school: students learning from donated hardware, with a teacher in charge. What you start with. Older PC parts, spare drives and a free operating system. What is delivered. Parts are tested, assembled and set up as a simple shared file store, with limits written down. It fits a school term, with the teacher in charge of timing and safety. How progress is known. Parts reused and tests passed are recorded. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Older parts can fail, and storage is not a substitute for a backup. Child safe practice applies: parent or guardian permission, adult supervision, privacy protection and an inclusive setting. Any AI assisted work is disclosed and checked before it is used. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
