Mini file server from reused PC parts: a community group project

The problem. Old computers are binned while small groups lack storage. Who it helps. A community group working together, helping households and small groups with old devices. What you start with. Older PC parts, spare drives and a free operating system. What is delivered. Parts are tested, assembled and set up as a simple shared file store, with limits written down. A small group works through it together, week by week. How progress is known. Parts reused and tests passed are recorded. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Older parts can fail, and storage is not a substitute for a backup.
