Wax melts from remnants: a council program
The problem. Leftover wax is thrown out and pouring skills are hard to practise. Who it helps. A council or library team hosting it, helping people facing barriers to paid work, with the organisations that support them. What you start with. Wax remnants and clean tins. What is delivered. Pouring, labelling and boxing are shared out by preference. A community officer hosts it with local partners and follows progress. How progress is known. Melts made and tasks each person learned are recorded. A short summary is shared with the council, with names and personal details left out. Main purpose. The main purpose is a pathway to work, training or a first venture for the people taking part. Honest limits. Hot wax needs close supervision. Items are described accurately, in line with Australian consumer law, and custom made or refurbished items are disclosed. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
