Kids newsletter: a community group project

The problem. Children read a lot but seldom write for a real reader. Who it helps. A community group working together, helping children aged 8 to 14 and their parents. What you start with. A shared document and a few short articles. What is delivered. Children write, edit and illustrate a monthly newsletter for their group. A small group works through it together, week by week. How progress is known. Issues produced and articles written are counted. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Editing needs adult help to keep content safe and kind. Child safe practice applies: parent or guardian permission, adult supervision, privacy protection and an inclusive setting. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. Deals Colony has run or described this kind of project before, under Youth Leadership and Life Skills (HHHJ). Your version is a fresh trial and its results are not promised.
