Serving boards and turntables: a community group project
The problem. Plain serving pieces are hard to sell without a story or a finish. Who it helps. A community group working together, helping small makers, stallholders and neighbours holding leftover stock. What you start with. Lazy susan turntables and serving boards. What is delivered. Each piece is cleaned, refinished and styled as a grazing board in a small test batch. A small group works through it together, week by week. How progress is known. Boards finished and boards sold are recorded. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Food contact surfaces must be properly sealed and safe. Items are described accurately, in line with Australian consumer law, and custom made or refurbished items are disclosed. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. Deals Colony has run or described this kind of project before, under Surplus-to-Service Innovation; Circular Retail Concept. Your version is a fresh trial and its results are not promised.
