Swap and repair day: a council program

The problem. Good items are thrown out when they could be swapped or mended. Who it helps. A council or library team hosting it, helping makers and neighbours who want to try a stall. What you start with. Swap tables and a few repair volunteers. What is delivered. Items are swapped and simple repairs offered. A community officer hosts it with local partners and follows progress. How progress is known. Items swapped and mended are counted. A short summary is shared with the council, with names and personal details left out. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Repairs are limited to safe, simple jobs. Items are described accurately, in line with Australian consumer law, and custom made or refurbished items are disclosed. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
