Cushion covers and throws: a council program

The problem. Unsold soft furnishings pile up and lose value. Who it helps. A council or library team hosting it, helping small makers, stallholders and neighbours holding leftover stock. What you start with. Surplus cushion covers and throws. What is delivered. Covers and throws are matched by fabric and bundled into themed sets. A community officer hosts it with local partners and follows progress. How progress is known. Sets made and sold are counted. A short summary is shared with the council, with names and personal details left out. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Fabric condition and care labels must be checked first. Items are described accurately, in line with Australian consumer law, and custom made or refurbished items are disclosed. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
