Hand stitched pouches: a workplace project

The problem. Offcuts are wasted and sewing skills go unused. Who it helps. A workplace team backing the project. The people helped are people facing barriers to paid work, with the organisations that support them. What you start with. Fabric offcuts and basic sewing tools. What is delivered. Patterns are cut once and stitched in simple, repeatable steps. A named team lead runs it alongside normal work, and taking part is voluntary. How progress is known. Pouches made and stitching skills learned are recorded. A short summary is shared with your team, with names and personal details left out. Main purpose. The main purpose is a pathway to work, training or a first venture for the people taking part. Honest limits. Sewing tools need supervised use. Items are described accurately, in line with Australian consumer law, and custom made or refurbished items are disclosed. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
