Fabric offcut pouches: a council program

The problem. Small offcuts are too small to sell, so they are thrown out. Who it helps. A council or library team hosting it, helping small makers and gift sellers who want less packaging waste. What you start with. Fabric offcuts from a sewing room. What is delivered. Offcuts become pouches, wraps and drawstring bags in a limited colour set. A community officer hosts it with local partners and follows progress. How progress is known. Pouches made from offcuts are counted. A short summary is shared with the council, with names and personal details left out. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Small offcuts limit the size of what can be made. Items are described accurately, in line with Australian consumer law, and custom made or refurbished items are disclosed. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
