Rescued carton gift boxes: a council program

The problem. Good cartons are crushed when they could be used again. Who it helps. A council or library team hosting it, helping small makers and gift sellers who want less packaging waste. What you start with. Clean leftover cartons from a stocktake. What is delivered. Cartons are measured, re-cut and fitted with simple inserts for a small run of gift boxes. A community officer hosts it with local partners and follows progress. How progress is known. Cartons reused and boxes completed are counted. A short summary is shared with the council, with names and personal details left out. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Cartons that held food or chemicals are not reused. Items are described accurately, in line with Australian consumer law, and custom made or refurbished items are disclosed. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
