Hand painted resin lamps: a council program
The problem. Some people have few chances to learn hands on making skills in a real product line. Who it helps. A council or library team hosting it, helping people facing barriers to paid work, with the organisations that support them. What you start with. Blank resin lamp bases and a safe workspace. What is delivered. A marbled finish is learned on test pieces, and each person chooses the colours they like. A community officer hosts it with local partners and follows progress. How progress is known. Skills practised, training hours and pieces finished are recorded with each person. A short summary is shared with the council, with names and personal details left out. Main purpose. The main purpose is a pathway to work, training or a first venture for the people taking part. Honest limits. Resin work needs ventilation and the right protective gear. Items are described accurately, in line with Australian consumer law, and custom made or refurbished items are disclosed. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
