Chores challenge: a workplace project
The problem. Screen time can crowd out time for chores and skills. Who it helps. A workplace team backing the project. The people helped are children aged 8 to 14 and their parents. Employees take part as supervised adult helpers with a youth group, outside normal performance reviews. What you start with. A household chore list and a points chart. What is delivered. A chore for a dollar style challenge is set up with a simple tracker for the first fortnight. A named team lead runs it alongside normal work, and taking part is voluntary. How progress is known. Chores done and goals met are ticked off on the tracker. A short summary is shared with your team, with names and personal details left out. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Money rewards can complicate family expectations, so goals are agreed first. Child safe practice applies: parent or guardian permission, adult supervision, privacy protection and an inclusive setting. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
