Op shop surplus rescue: a school project

The problem. Surplus goods pile up in storerooms. Who it helps. A school: students sorting and redesigning surplus, with a teacher in charge. What you start with. Surplus items an op shop cannot sell. What is delivered. Items are sorted and passed to makers who redesign them. It fits a school term, with the teacher in charge of timing and safety. How progress is known. Items passed on are counted. Main purpose. The main purpose is access to a useful product or service, or less waste going to landfill, for the community. Honest limits. Items must be clean and safe. Child safe practice applies: parent or guardian permission, adult supervision, privacy protection and an inclusive setting. Items are described accurately, in line with Australian consumer law, and custom made or refurbished items are disclosed. Ownership of your idea stays with you, and no job, funding or contract is promised. Track record. This is a new idea built on work Deals Colony has already documented. It has not been run yet.
